Captain of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan, believes a win for the Stars in their opening game at the ongoing AFCON against Uganda will boost confidence in the camp.

Ghana has not beaten opponents Uganda in a competitive game since 2005, and face a very tough task against the Cranes.

Gyan explains that a win against the Cranes will inspire renewed confidence in the team due to the Stars’ poor run of results against the Cranes over the past 12 years.

“A win will bring our confidence back, because we have had a tough preparation.

We are playing against a difficult side, a side we have been struggling against all these years.

Experience is going to count in this game, and we are hoping to win this game to bring back our confidence, looking forward to the next game.

It’s not going to be easy, but I think with the quality we have in the camp we are capable of winning.”
